Our Mission
GHLS, in collaboration with the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, provides educational railway experiences with its miniature ride-on/ride-behind locomotives, delighting visitors of all ages with enjoyable and educational exposure to rail operations, rail safety, and Canadian railway heritage; maintains its assets and infrastructure in top condition; operates with the highest standards of safety; and works to grow interest in the hobby and in our membership.
The club’s facilities include:
- 1200 feet of elevated dual gauge (4 ¾” and 3 ½”) track with transfer table and steaming bays
- 3000 feet of ground mounted 7 ¼” gauge track with turntable, loading hoist and steaming bays
- Club riding cars for all gauges
- A railway station house, car barns and storage sheds
- A pedestrian bridge crossing both tracks
- Indoor 200 foot double loop of raised small scale live steaming track – 45 mm and 32 mm gauges
- Indoor 60 foot double loop of electrified G scale double track – 45 mm gauge for DC and battery-powered DCC operation

Our goals are to:
– Share a common interest in current and historic railroading with our members and the Public
– Provide free rides on miniature trains for the Public, especially families with children
– Promote the miniature railroad hobby
– Educate the Public about live steam engines and steam locomotives
– Assist each other with all aspects of the hobby
– Maintain our track, locomotives and rolling stock, facilities and operations
Club meetings are normally held on the last Sunday of the month (excluding May, June, July, August and December), starting at 1:00 pm at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, 900 Woodward Ave. in Hamilton.
